Projects Done Projects Due
Revamped Ponch (still working on the Portrait Shot) |
I should have shown the 'before' picture but this was originally a very big, loose and stretchy poncho, it would hang down to my knees. My first knitting attempt. I was never very satisfied with it. There were dropped stitches and a poor 'sewing together' job. So, I pulled it out and did what I do best, crocheted. It's still stretchy, I used a variation of the shell stitch. But it's much smaller and quite warm, 100% wool. I made the original poncho several years ago and I don't think I'd choose the same yarn today but, I think it's fun with jeans or something drab, note the drab turtleneck. :)
The Chickens Are Not Helping |
Next project in line, leaves! We will all be out there today with this lull in the storms. Crazy storm on Sunday brought almost every leaf down. It actually helps to get it all done in one shot.
Christmas Is Coming! |
A Christmas project underway. I'll have more 'before and after' pix coming. My little one and I went crazy with the pompom making. We were addicted to it. Couldn't find my pompom making tool so these are done the ole fashion way of wrapping the yarn around your fingers. They're a bit loosey goosey but I think they look a little Dr. Suessy, no rhyme intended. ;)

Advent
This year, instead of opening a cheapy prize everyday which ends up in the trash bin :( , I chose to spend the same amount of money and get something a little more special. Every Sunday they can each pick a package. The pink ones for one kid and the black for the other. I have way too much fun doing this! I threw in a bunch of tinsel that I picked up at Ikea which were marked down to 10 cents a box at the end of the season last year, each 2 1/4 yards long. Pretty good deal I thought. I wrapped the packages with it too. The container is a candle holder that is about 15 years old, there are some benefits to being a pack rat. I garnished with a bit of fake holly, I wish it were plastic to add to the tacky chic look but I'm satisfied.
The painting in the background is a piece that my husband had commissioned for our 13 anniversary by Claudia Alvarez. I'll show you some other art by her at another time. She's amazing!
The clock is a Seth Thomas, forgot the year made. I grew up with it. My parents collected antique clocks and when they divorced my mom got the clocks in the agreement. They ended up a sad memory for her but since they were a happy memory for me she let me have them. I have very happy, peaceful memories of my dad methodically winding them each week and I enjoy doing the every Saturday. I hope my children will have the same experience. Although, I believe they're at the age where the clocks can be quite a disturbance during slumber parties. I remember that too. :D
Finished the poncho! Pix coming soon.
